Aisaka Taiga - A stunning beauty at a 'minimal' 143.6 cm, yet strong-willed, short-tempered, and afraid of no one. Her ferocity (she'll snap at anyone on sight) plus her name 'Taiga' earn her the dreaded nickname 'Palmtop Tiger.' At heart, though, she's a tsundere quietly crushing on her good friend Kitamura - and the moment he comes up she turns painfully shy, showing a real girlish side.

Takasu Ryuuji - Thanks to the piercing eyes he inherited from his father, classmates and strangers alike write this pitiable second-year off as a delinquent. In truth he's meticulous to a fault, and growing up in a single-mother home made him an ace at every chore: cooking, laundry, all of it. A boy you could marry off anywhere without shame. He's quietly carrying a torch for his classmate Minori.

Minori Kushieda - Taiga's best friend, nicknamed "Minorin." An almost blindingly bright smile paired with an over-the-top hot-blooded streak make her a pure go-at-her-own-pace airhead. She captains the girls' softball club, and on the way home from practice she's a hardworking girl juggling a whole stack of part-time jobs.

Kawashima Ami - Kitamura's childhood friend, a beauty who transfers into Ryuuji's class. She's actually a popular working high-school model with the looks and figure to prove it, and a personality that seems unbelievably sweet... on the surface. Pop the lid and she's a thoroughly black-hearted schemer.

Kitamura Yusaku - Ryuuji's best friend, student-council vice-president, and boys' captain of the softball club: a textbook honor student. Add the bespectacled, brainy look and his classmates fondly call him 'Maru-kun.' In reality, though, he's just a little bit off.

Koigakubo Yuri - Ryuuji and co.'s homeroom teacher. Too soft-spoken to ever come down hard on Taiga. She'd set her sights on getting married in her twenties, but alas, thirty came knocking first.

Takasu Yasuko - Ryuuji's mother. She works as the popular hostess 'Ya-chan' at the snack bar 'Bishamonten Heaven,' and single-handedly supports the Takasu household finances. The housework is all left to Ryuuji. Taiga calls her 'Ya-chan.'

Inko-chan - The parakeet Ryuuji keeps. Incredibly cute, but very eccentric in its behavior. Normally it can't even remember its own name, yet depending on the situation and the other person's words, it will sometimes blurt out a sharp, perfectly-timed remark, as if delivering a retort.
