1996 - Huh - Best Of

In 1996 I decided to do a Best Of. The 4-track cassettes were loaded into a very early version of Cakewalk for Windows - the first time I could actually record audio (and import audio!) - the previous cakewalk I used was midi only. Unfortunately those files were lost in a hard drive crash - what is on the CD is the only version in some cases.

Many of the songs are different than the original cassette versions. In addition to remixing the levels and EQ, I apparently sped up some of the tracks because at the time I thought it made them sound "more energetic". In some cases, I also redid vocals, as well as replacing ALL the instruments and drums with a Roland SC-88 Sound Module - because for some reason I thought it would be just a great idea to make the songs into General MIDI format. In hindsight (to me at least) the songs lose some of their personality/quirks from the original keyboards, and end up sounding generic and sterile.

I sent the resulting .wav files off to (some guy) from the internet who had a CD burner and he made 20(?) copies for me for like $200 which at the time was OMG I MADE A CD. I have one copy, DSC had one at one point (that probably got thrown into their wall of shame and smashed to bits). No idea where the rest ended up.

The cover was taken from a copy of Weekly World News that Dan had at some point. We decided it would be a great cover for an album called "Huh?" someday.
